World Book Day 2022 – Primary School Author Visits

World Book Day 2022 is fast approaching and I’m proud to be offering my primary school author visits for the sixth consecutive year!

Many primary schools across the UK really go to town with World Book Day events to celebrate books and authors. From dressing up as their favourite book characters, to going into school ‘bedtime story ready’ in pyjamas and onesies, I love to see pupils – and their teachers – having fun on this special day.

As a children’s author and storyteller, the week of World Book Day is always a busy time for me. I really enjoy getting out and about to meet hundreds of young readers and share my stories.

With the big day only a few weeks away, I’m now starting to receive lots of enquiries from teachers that are looking for a special visitor to engage primary school children of all ages. As an experienced author and storyteller, to date I have visited well over 100 primary schools across the country, both in person and online.

My author visits are ideal for engaging, inspiring and entertaining children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 classes. I’m also skilled at adapting my presentation style to suit Key Stage 2 pupils, right through to Year 6!

My in person author visits include multiple interactive storytelling sessions with my rhyming picture books Fred The Fire-Sneezing Dragon and Bob’s Beard. They feature props, cuddly characters and simple actions and rhymes for children to learn.

As well as running storytelling workshops with individual classes and year groups, I am often asked to present an assembly for pupils from mixed year groups or even the whole school. I always enjoy sharing the story of how I became a children’s author and performing an interactive reading of Fred The Fire-Sneezing Dragon, where everyone gets to ‘sneeze-along’ with Fred. Ah-choo!

World Book Day takes place on Thursday 3 March 2022 and I currently have availability to deliver in person author visits during the week. I offer half-day (3-hour) and full day sessions with no minimum book purchase required. If you are a primary school teacher and would like more details,  please get in touch.
