Flap Your Flippers! My Author Visits Are Back!

Happy to announce that I’m now taking bookings for primary school author visits with my brand new book – Dave The Whale.

I’m looking forward to introducing my cuddly book mascot Dave and his story to children at primary schools across the country. My author visits with Dave The Whale include lots of audience participation, props and cuddly characters, as well as actions and rhymes for the children to learn and join in with.

Launched in September 2022, Dave The Whale is my third rhyming picture book and a fabulous story for young readers and listeners to enjoy. My storytelling sessions with this new book are fully interactive and inclusive, and suitable for all primary school year groups.

My book tells the tale of Dave, an adorable young whale who longs to swim to dry land to sunbathe. He meets Tilly, a friendly sea turtle, who shows him the way to the coast.

But as the hot sun beats down, Dave wants to return to the sea, only to find he is well-and-truly beached! Children will be delighted to discover how Tilly the turtle ‘hatches’ a plan to save the whale, in this clever rhyming story.

My interactive storytelling sessions with Dave The Whale include learning and copying simple actions to ‘swim along with Dave’. As well as encouraging everyone to ‘flap your flippers’ there are lots of cuddly characters to meet – including up to 100 baby sea turtles! This ensures ALL children have the opportunity to get involved and have fun as they help bring my story to life.

As with my previous books Fred The Fire-Sneezing Dragon and Bob’s Beard, my interactive storytelling sessions are suitable for all primary school year groups. As rhyming stories, my books are ideal for EYFS and Key Stage 1 but I’m also highly skilled at adapting my presentation style for Key Stage 2 classes right through to Year 6. I was recently accepted as a member of performing arts union Equity in recognition of my work as a professional storyteller, with over 150 primary school author visits to date.

Each storytelling session with Dave The Whale features an author Q&A with young readers and budding writers. This includes a discussion of the themes related to Dave’s story – marine conservation and protecting our oceans.

Primary schools can opt for a half day (£250) or full day (£425) author visit, with multiple 40-minute interactive storytelling sessions for individual classes or year groups. There is also the option to include a 20-minute assembly suitable for the whole school.

I’m now taking bookings for the Autumn Term, as well as the ever popular week of World Book Day 2023. To request a brochure with more details or to make a booking enquiry, please contact me.
