Dragon Fired Up By Primary School Visit
Fred The Fire-Sneezing Dragon has just enjoyed his first ever storytelling outing. I recently took the brand new cuddly version of the main character from my children’s book on an author visit to Gawsworth Primary School in Cheshire.
I enjoyed meeting everyone in the Reception class and was given a very warm and friendly welcome as their special ‘Mystery Reader’. I chatted to the class about writing my story and how excited I am that it is being turned into a children’s book.
We then practiced all the actions so that the children could sneeze-along with Fred whilst I read the story. The whole class loved getting involved and everyone joined in with a very, very loud ‘ah-choo!’
After the story we discussed what the children thought Fred looked like in their imagination. I then introduced them to the real life Fred himself. Everyone was eager to meet Fred and give him a big cuddle.
Each member of the class – and their teacher – behaved beautifully whilst Fred sat on everyone’s knee. All the Reception children used sign language to say said hello to Fred and tell him their name.
Fred loved his first adventure and is looking forward to visiting many more primary schools.
