Children’s Author Is Going Back To School
It’s so good to see that we are progressing slowly and safely out of lockdown. This has been a difficult period for everyone and particularly unsettling for primary school children.
School closures at the start of the first lockdown meant my diary full of author visits sadly had to be postponed. I’m finally getting back in touch with those schools to let them know that I am ‘ready when you are’ to get a new date in the diary.
After successfully delivering live online storytelling sessions for many months, I’m delighted to have started taking bookings for my ‘real life’ author visits again. I’m looking forward to being back on the road, touring round primary schools across the North West of England and beyond.
I currently have availability for Summer and Autumn Term 2021 and as previously, schools have the option to enjoy a FREE half-day or full-day visit, simply by purchasing copies of my books on the day.
My author visits include a series of 40-minute interactive storytelling sessions based around my illustrated rhyming story Bob’s Beard. Ideal for EYFS and Key Stage 1 classes, the children help me to bring the story to life through the use of props and cuddly characters, and also enjoy joining in with actions and rhymes. Where time allows me to present an assembly, Fred The Fire-Sneezing Dragon also gets fired-up to meet the children and teaches them to ‘sneeze-along’ with his story. Ah-choo!
Due to popular demand, I’m also continuing with my free online author visits – a great option for schools far and wide, and those not yet welcoming visitors.
I’m happy to meet any PPE/social distancing requirements for school visitors whilst restrictions are still in place. This includes wearing a protective visor and using disinfectant spray on all props between sessions.
