Fay Evans

Hello! I’m Fay Evans, an author of rhyming stories for picture books loved by children aged from two to seven years.

I write engaging tales for children and grown ups to enjoy reading together, at bedtime or anytime. My books encourage readers to interact with the story and have fun by repeating simple actions.

My love of writing started at the age of eight, when I won a prize at primary school for my joined-up handwriting. I then wrote a diary every day for over ten years, telling the everyday story of my school and teenage life.

My first proper job was as a reporter for a local newspaper. I spent most of my early career working in the PR industry, writing news stories and content for websites. Over the years I’ve written scripts for short films and sitcoms, as well as ideas for TV comedy dramas.

My daughter inspired me to start writing stories for children. She loved picture books from an early age and it was her favourite character that inspired her to say her very first word: “Bear!”

Snuggling up with my daughter every day to read books in those early years was magical. Reading together had a hugely positive impact on her development, her continuing love of books and our close relationship.

As an author, my mission is to create a world full of book days, with my interactive primary school author visits. I’m passionate about bringing stories to life and delivering engaging storytelling sessions.

Most of all, I love sharing my stories with children and inspiring young readers and writers to dream big.

I’m proud to be part of Team Author UK, which provides authors with a range of publishing support.
